New Port Richey, Florida Landmark Restaurant Reopens After Historic Flooding From Hurrican Idalia For Their 3rd Anniversary Celebration

New Port Richey, FL (September 2, 2023) – Widow Fletchers is a massive waterfront restaurant with boat slips centered in the residential waterfront canal community of Gulf Harbors in the city of New Port Richey, FL. Formerly known as Leverocks, the new owner, Doctor David Hirschaeur, and former business partners remodeled the previously burned building after sitting vacant for 14 years. Widow Fletcher’s officially opened in September of 2020, during the height of the pandemic.

This past week the two-story restaurant experienced flooding from Hurricane Idalia with the full moon tides and hurricane surge throughout the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 30th. Widow Fletcher’s owners and management weren’t sure if the restaurant would reopen in time for their 3rd year anniversary celebration set to take place on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

The historic flooding to the New Port Richey, Florida area was thankfully less than forecasted. The lower level at Widow Fletcher’s wasn’t as lucky and saw significant flooding from the storm. After an outpouring of support from the local community and the hard work of staff and volunteers, Widow Fletchers is happy to announce that our downstairs is open and will be ready for our anniversary party.

Owner Dr. David Hirschauer said, “While much of our area received flooding, we certainly saw a good brunt of the storm flooding in New Port Richey with our waterfront location. We are fortunate to be able to reopen so quickly and cannot wait to say thank you to all our patrons over the past three years for their support. As a special thanks to our patrons, we have some great musicians lined up to perform this Sunday, and will be offering really great food and drink specials. For our marina patrons, we are currently offering free overnight dock slips on Sunday night so they can come in by boat for the holiday weekend and enjoy all we have to offer while skipping the Monday morning boat ramp chaos on Labor Day”.
